low is right it does get very thin there. I have an intake that I cut the top off and welded on a bigger plume. It takes any 5.0l throttle body. Never had it on a running motor so I can't say if it works or not. Could turn out to be a big waste of time. The linkage turned out to be a big headache. I took a bunch parts to make the 5.0l throttle body work.

NEED HELP with correct xr4ti ecm for 88 gt 5 spd 1.9 ho

I am looking for a plug n play ecm for my 88 GT 1.9 ho 5 spd. I can get my hands on a xr4ti turbo 85-89 PF3. Is this what I would need? Looking for some hp gain. Does it matter if it is from an auto or manual?

    Thanks

Anyone know if this ecu has a rev limit?

If you ever plan to boost it then you want the maualecm because it has most stock boost.

oops I meant the manual one. It was factory rated at a higher boost like fifteen stock I believe. Is the car you are putting this in auto or manual?

My EXP is a manual, in fact all of my Escorts/EXPs/Lynxs have been manuals, never owned an auto. I guess that is because I have only owned one LX and it happened to be a manual, the other 9ish have been GTs.

I was reading your post below and have a couple questions for you or anyone. I am looking in to buying a 1988 EXp with a 1.9. Is this similar or the same as the escort gt of that year? Or what is the difference? Does the 1.9 of the Exp put out 88hp or 127 hp? Would the Merkur ECU work on the Exp and are you still able to get those? Thanks for any info you can provide me!

I believe the exp is pretty much identical engine, drive-train, suspension, everything but the body itself equivalent to that year escort.

if it has the 1.9L EFI H.O. it would be 110hp stock. if its the CFI engine its going to be less. the Merkur ECU is only swappable with the EFI H.O. engine.

Ok so the GT fell through, now I'm looking into a 1.8 from a 91 escort. I have a 1995 lx wagon and the 1.9 is on its way out. I'm trying to find a way to swap in more power with a limited budget or i"ll have to just get the 1.9 head reworked and put it back together. Would the 1.8 bolt in in place of the 1.9?

The 88 EXP was called Escort EXP and did not have the HO. It's one of the reasons I didn't buy one.
