Hello everyone. Just founf this site and it looks great! I have been trying to replace the fuel filter on my 1999 Ford Escort and I cannot find it. Can anyone please tell me where it is located. Thank you very much.

Hey there.

I believe that the fuel filter is on the same place for a '99 as it is for a '97 (someone can correct me if I am wrong) and that place is a pain in the butt to get to! Its mounted against the firewall in the engine compartment, approximately in the center of the car. It might be a little closer to the passenger side, but I really dont remember. I do recall that it was just long enough that it was a pain to do from the top or the bottom, but maybe that is just me.

Good luck changing it! I hope this helped out! (And that I am right about where it is....)

Yeah, it should be on the firewall. 90% of cars out there are like this.
90% of FWD cars. :) Never seen it on the firewall of a RWD car.
Thats sorta what I meant...since I've never owned a rwd car and not too many of my friends have one either. :p

Perhaps he's doing some preventaitive maitenance

For those who don't know, I'm HUGE on preventative maintenance. The sooner I know about something, the better. That way I can fix it immediately if need be, or do something about it another time but be prepared for the expense in the process, or plan the time to do it myself. Also by keeping your car well maintened, you can head off more expensive repairs.

I change my fuel filter once a year regardless.

For a 1999, that's been five years if it's original. It's for sure due for a new one.

Yep..just some preventative maintenance. It is my daughters car and seemed to be running a little rough so I gave it a tuneup. New plugs, wires, PCV valve, serp. belt, but I could not find the fuel filter to change.
