Hey guys, I have read the stickies and also done a little more reading on the forum but I just want to make sure of a few things.
I have a 1999 escort wagon with the spi and I want to make some more power by adding a turbo.
By reading other threads am I correct to assume that the 2.0L Zetec from the 1998-2004 escort will be a direct bolt on, with a donor car of course?
And in everyones opinion, would they stay with the spi and modify it or do the Zetec swap and modify it?
I am assuming, as with the Focus I have, that there are alot more parts out there for the Escort Zetec rather than the spi?

There are more aftermarket parts for the Zetec than for the SPI but the SPI does have some advantages over the Zetec, like the SPI has a stronger bottom end. The funny thing is it seems like everybody that does the Zetec swap leaves without making a how-to so all the information is a little hard to come by. From what I understand it is pretty much plug and play with the exception of some wiring for the A/C and drilling a hole for one of the starter bolts.

The Zetec swap in the 99 Escort that I did was a ROYAL PAIN! IMHO If you are going to turbo it, just do it to the SPI.

But it depends on what kind of parts your talking about.

There are others that will bolt in but the wiring would be beyond a nightmare. The Zetec I the easiest swap for your car.
