I'm trying to to help my daughter thru a problem with her alternator, She has a 1997 escort sedan with a 2.0 L engine. she and I are on oposite sides of the country, she had someone change out her alternator and the second she turned the switch a cloud of white smoke came out for her wiring harness, specifically the B+ terminal. The idiot said he was a Mechanic, but her fried B+ wire says otherwise. She has looked at the connection on the B+ terminal on the alternator and says she sees 2 wires connected, one of those goes back to the main fuse box under the hood, the other she's not sure where it goes, My question is , does that second wire, the one that does not go back to the fuse box suppose to even connect to the alternator or is it some sort of ground wire that connects to the engine, my daughter says there is tape wrapped with in 5 inches of the alernator connections , can anybody give me some much needed advise--Thanks WASO
