The 87 GT is quite different from the 88-90 scorts, and also different from the 86 and earlier scorts. That´s why I am hesitant to get rid of mine, because it is unique. As for high performance Parts; I have one word for you, TURBO! What is this Escort SS your talking about? I´ve never heard of it. Yes cavys are slow and most Escorts will beat them withoUt aNy trouble. Also, acCording to James, they are ugly. My opinion is that They arn´t Ugly, but certainly don´t derserve the best looking car of the year award. That award is reserved for cars like the z8 And The MurcIelago. (Dang, now there´s droOl oN my keyboard ;-) )

stock to stock.... we cant beat j-body z24s or sunfire gt´s. they have the 2.4 ld-9 motor. they run low 15´s stock compared to the 16 and mid 16´s stock gt´s run. now first gen z24´s we can spank the shit out of all day.

What makes the 87 so unique?

And I think you mean from the 88.5 - 90, as the true 88 is the same "style" as the 85.5 - 88

Yeah, but my spoiler is bigger than yours. :-]

Still wondering what makes the 87 unique.

Of course if it´s an early 87 it has normal seat belts!

My mistake, I did not realize that the early 88´s were the same as the 87´s. But rascal was right on the differences. Also, I think that before 87 there were no Escort GT´s, or at least I´ve never seen one. There are a few more subtle differences between the 87-88´s and the 88.5´s and up than just the tails and bumbers, but I´m not sure exactly sure what they are right now.

The GT´s of the 87 bodystyle started in 85.5 and went through 88 with the rest of the bodystyle.

Then the 88.5-90´s were the same style

There was an earlier GT, 83 or so. It may have only been the turbo.
