There is no way to bypass the VAF sensor without causeing massive drivablity probems. They do make adapters to fit a cone filter on the end of them though. The VAF is an integral part of the fuel injection system, and measures air volume, and air temperature to let the computer know how much fuel to mix with it to provide a good air fuel mixture. Takeing it out completely will throw a whole mess of codes, and make your engine run like crap, if it runs at all. I believe the Turbo SVO Mustangs had bigger VAF sensors, but there is really no need to put a bigger VAF unless you go with a bigger throtle body also. The VAF isn´t that restrictive at all though, so if it was possable to remove it, you wouldn´t get that much gain in air flow anyway. I did a little modifying on my car and moved the airbox behind the firewall and made a homemade cold air intake for my car. I put a post up in the engine tuning section if you want to know more. I hope this helps out a bit.
