Long time admirer of the site....and need the advice of fellow Escort fans.

Have a 1987 Mercury XR3 (aka Escort GT) that I bought earlier this year. After some initial work....new timing belt, draining the tank, cleaning out the fuel lines, installing an NOS fuel pump....it started and ran just fine. Then I parked it outside where it has sat for 9 months. Too much going on with family, work, 2020 etc.

With work demands slowing down, I finally got some time to give it attention and begin work on a full restoration. The old battery was dead...so I bought a new one. Started right up and idled for 20-25 minutes then died. Wouldn't restart. Cranked but never fired up again.

Had fuel so checked ignition coil and it showed no spark.

So far I've replaced with new parts....ignition coil, distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs & wires. Looks to have a spark now...cranks fine, but still not firing up. Will check fuel pressure next.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure that your timing belt is ok?

I second what 88ESCORTV6 said. Also check for codes on the EUC if you can.

Try one of those spark checkers.

Thanks for suggestions guys. Replaced ICM on distributor....still no start. Fuel pressure check out ok. Timing belt was replaced in January and looks good. Spark seems to be almost intermittent.
