Have you read Phils story, he had a 1st gen 1.9 HO GT, EXP Turbo manifold and CPU , 2.3 TC Turbo, CFI dished pistons, FMIC and a fuel system.
Before he put the project down, he had over 300 hp to the wheels.

Is a chip really needed for a first gen? You can advance timing by turning the disribitor cap, and adjust A/F ratio with a A-FPR and a A/F gauge?

Anyways my Second Gen weighs about the same as your first, and my 3rd gen motor make´s simular power to a first gen GT. I have 111 hp to the wheels and I can keep up with most mild honda´s,(as long as thay just have bolt ons) I was kick´n but at the last drag strip I went to. :-]

I still need 24# injectors, A-FPR and Gauges.
I should be way below the $1500 mark. ;-)

Hmm, instead of the FMU couldn´t I just pull the ECU from a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe? A lot of those in the junkyard...

Intercooler is prolly from another car I take it. No aftermarket intercooler is gong to go under $500 and I don´t like alot of cutting. So it would have to be minor cuts at the most.

So you run a FMU and a still need to run a 1:1 ratio regulator? 24lbs injectors you can get from a Mustang GT. Gauges? EGT, Boost and Fuel presssure is all I would use. EGT and Fuel Pressure won´t be cheap overall though.

I dunno, if I wanna pick up a Escort GT and re-ring it just so I can drop about 10psi on it.

If you can show me where to find a the EXP/Escort GT turbo manifold at cheap, I might be interested.

A ECU will work from a EXP/TC for a firt gen Escort but not a second gen.
I have a $30 IC from a probe.
The FMU is for boost fuel pressure, the A-FPR is to turn the idle fuel pressure down so the 24# injectors don´t run it rich at idle.
24# injectors are only used in Mustang Cobra ect... the narmal V8 GT use the same 19# like I have stock allready.
I would allso use a A/F gauge.
