1.9 to gt 1.8 swap

well first i have a 95 escort that is down right now, the engine is shot. I would like to know if i could swap to a 1.8 dohc instead of having 1.9 and what i would have to do, i heard little things have to be changed, but dont know for sure, i would like to know more info before i know my decision. So if anyone out there could help me i would like to know more about it.

The 1.9 and the 1.8 are very different engines. It´s apparently a royal PITA to do because of the different trannies, axles, engine mounting points, etc. Apparently, swapping to a later model 2.0 LX engine or a zetec from a ZX2 or focus is much more favorable for the effort

erformance ratio.
