I am looking for a 1988-90 HO cylinder head and intake, exhaust manifold, or entire engine or parts car.
Any leads appreciated. It seems all of this stuff that was once at the junkyards has been scrapped by now.

gotta be a HO head? I have all this stuff from a regular, old 1.9SEFI (1992 vintage), including a rebuilt head still in shrink wrap from the machine shop. Shipping might be cost-prohibitive though...

Yep, it has to be the HO.

I am in Victoria B.C. I would be willing to travel some distance, I would have to see if it is reasonable to drive to Prince George. I was in the Kootenays recently so half way there...

Well I had partial success. I just came back from a round trip of a thousand miles to visit family members and check out a junkyard that assured me it had a complete 1990 engine.

I was not surprised when I got there that the engine was not a HO, just an ordinary 91-96 1.9.

However they did have a lone head with valve cover, so I picked that up. So I am still looking for the manifolds, and another spare head if the price is attractive:

Are you still looking for a head?

I'm primarily looking for the intake system and exhaust header now, since I did find a head. However, I would consider a spare head as well.

I may be travelling to the Kootenays at the end of September. My psychic powers tell me that you are in Edmonton.

I am in Edmonton. I don't have an intake, but i do have a complete exhaust from an '85 GT Turbo, including the exhaust manifold, turbocharger and downpipe. Iv'e got the upper rad hose to clear the exhaust manifold, and the oil supply line to the turbo. If you would like it, make me an offer, if not, no worries.

Thanks for the offer, but I will decline since my plans are to stay naturally aspirated.

What do you plan to do with this HO top end?

I am toying with the idea of putting it on top of a 2.0 short block. I have read your post about this and it seems intriguing.

I did find a complete EXP engine at a good price, so I have all the 1.9 HO parts I need now (I hope). I don't have a garage so the parts are stored where I can fit them, including tarp covered dog houses until I pull them out when the weather gets nice.

Thanks you bud!!! You will need a stand alone system like Megasquirt.... I do have a base map for the engine so you can run it without any worries... I did some changes while I was testing my 2.0L HO and I had no problems with reliability... you also want to run ARP head studs since compression will be raised... use the 2.0L water pump and timing belt... use your 2nd gen fuel rail but use the HO injectos...that should be it and if your scort is a manual, then run everything with the 2.0L, flywheel, clutch, axles, etc.... it's a great set up but I think the F-series trans will not hold up for long time use...

I am hoping to be able to use the stock engine control computer, and since this will be going into a second generation Escort, I think the 1.9 water pump is more suitable.

But with work, family duties, lack of a garage etc. I don't know how far I will get into this. I will wait until it ever is finished before posting a build thread, since I would rather talk about a successful project than one of those "this is what I am going to do" threads.

I understand fully... the stock engine computer will not work because of cam sensor in the cylinder head..... you will have issues plus a check engine light on... I did my research on this and with about 7 months of commuting, found no issues or problems.... My 2.0L HO is in a 2nd gen Escort LX, just did the 3rd Gen front clip swap too...

You did a really nice job painting the engine.

Was there any interference with the hood or firewall? I understand there is interference with the radiator.

Not interference with radiator but there is with the idle air control motor... it sits too high, that's why I used a 03 Subaru WRX STI scoop...
