Well...last week I blew up the motor in my GT. I'm out shopping for motors and am only finding engines from automatic cars near me. was reading the other day that an engine from an automatic car will not work with the wiring harness in a manual car without modification to the harness. Does anyone have any experience with this? I planned to swap my manual transmission over to the new engine and have good parts from the old engine to swap over if I can make the manual transmission wiring harness work without modification.

    Thanks!

My dad is selling a Ford 1.8L I4 DOHC 16v engine (BP) that he purchased in the 90's. He is looking to sell it but we are not sure the value. I think the engine was for a Ford Escort GT 1991-1996. The valve cover has Ford DOHC 16-VALVE and the castings have BP on it. It looks like it could be a version of the Mazda BP engine, or possibly the Zetech (Zeta family). It has never been installed into a car and has never ran, its straight from Ford with many accessories mounted (ie. exhaust manifold, alternator, flywheel ect..). If any one has any idea the value or knows someone who would be interested in purchasing it please contact me.

I wouldn't think the engine would be different between a manual and automatic trans

Dirt track, You'll be able to install it no problem. The difference would only be in making the Automatic Car a Manual car. One engine to the next has no bearing as it comes from an auto car or a manual car. Swap the flex plates from the Auto to the manual and put 'er in.
