Hey guys, I came across this page and thought it might be interesting for you to read.

http://web.missouri.edu/~apcb20/times.html

Note the 90 GT (first gen 1.9 EFI) plays a 16.8 as compared to the 93 GT (2nd gen 1.8 DOHC) 16.5 Having never gone against a 2g EGT I´m not sure how accurate that is, but I know I can stomp some 2g LX but with my car. The 1.9 doesn´t look too shabby now, does it??

Oh yeah, btw those are the same times that www.car-stats.com quotes for the 90 EGT and the 93 EGT. The difference between the two cars is negligable:

90 EGT: 108 hp 115 lb ft torque
91-96 EGT: 127 hp 114 lb ft torque.
Find a way to squeeze that 19 hp out and I´m sure you´d stay right with a 2nd gen GT.

Doesn't specify whether it's for an automatic or manual. I can guess though. The third gen sedan time was 18.1, I'm GUESSING that's an automatic, 'cause my car can keep pace with my friend's 5 speed neon and that's not an 18 second car... So either that or the guy driving it doesn't know how to drive a stick? I dunno.

You sure those torque numbers are right? I thought that the 1.8 had more like 107 ft lbs and the 1.9 was 120 or so?
yes I'm sure the torque specs are right for the 1.8. It has 114 ft lbs of torque @ 4500 rpm. 127 hp @ 6500 rpm. I owned a 1.8. I learned everything I could about it. :D

he 1.9 HO GT I believe got off of http://www.edmunds.com so If they aren't right, then I dunno.

Well I kind of agree with James there with the 110, 'cause that's what I remember, and if that's wrong, which it might be, I'm pretty sure it wasn't anything over 115. Maybe 113, something like that.

I have had both a 1989 EGT and a 1992 EGT. The 1992 EGT is much faster then the 1989 ever was. I never for a second missed my '89 GT after I got my '92. And my 1/4 mile runs were at 83 MPH and 16.3 seconds. It was over 17.5 in my '89. A friend had an '86 EGT that he installed a custom cam. He was able to get it down to 16.6 seconds before her got fed up and got a Mustang GT.
