It may be possible. One of my friends ran about a 16.1 with just a cone filter and straight through muffler (not the whole pipe, just the muffler). Although he was running drag slicks so that would knock of a few tenths I would think.

Last time I ran a 16.7 @ 2430 feet over sea level. My R/T was .84

I was running on 215/40 17´s. I had the stock airbox w/ K&N filter. No timing advance, bad plugs, wires, cap and rotor (I think my coil is going too). My PCV valve was leaking oil into my intake manifold. My exhaust is 2.25" to the rear axle with 2.5" axle back through duel inline mufflers.

I did my best run with no rev on the motor. Everytime I tried to drop the clutch I roasted the tires and ran 17´s.

And the big kicker of all time...I weighed in that night at 2740lbs.

So there´s lots of room for you to improve. Keep your weight down to like 2400, have a great tune up. Run awesome fuel. Run on 15´s or smaller. And stay away from the altitude.

You strip the hole car appart to gain .3 sec...

bah... I dont really think thats worth it.

How much did you do with the car in one piece?

Your car looks real clean btw...
That´s what i like, nice clean mods...
I hate those 12 feet high wings and people who drop their car too much it´s under the road...

Hey Drag racing is all about the .1 seconds. Even if it means stripping the car down to nothing. 6lbs of weight is a 1HP equivalent...usually.

My friend had an HX civic, he stripped out his entire interior...carpet, seats, speakers, dashboard everything...and because of it actually out ran my friends Turbo´d civic.

FourDiceS04, i didn´t try with a full interior, i only did 4 run. this is my first drag day and i only have the gt for 2 month and my cluch is not in perfect shape(wen i shift hard i can feel it slip) and i did some bad lauch. but all my time slip was in the low 16 high 15. next year i will race more and i will probably able to run better.

scorts have almost infinite possibilities in the 1/4 mile catagory, with 185/60/zr14´s a pacesetter 5-speed, and a few minor mods my 93LTS does mid 14´s. reaction times and munipulation make a big difference.

You guys have your heads in the clouds...

All you really need to do is that piece of junk GT and get yourself a REAL set of wheels... I´m talking about the ´95 excort LX wagon.
If you want the speed of a viper and the handling of a porsche, the 95 waggy is the way to go. The rear compartment is what gives the wagon the edge... the reverse osmotic reynold vorticies from the back actually push the car foward, giving you better efficiency, and most of all, power! RAW power!
Mine does the 1/4 mile in 13 seconds flat.

[/lie]

ahem.

has anyone mentioned new wheels?

Thanx Siragon, I really needed a good laugh today. Seriously, I really don´t know what advice I could give you. I´ve never been to the dragstrip myself. Are there any in PA? I guess all I can say is Practice, Practice, Practice!

What do u guys consider is the best start on street tires? no spinning? slight loss of traction? The truth is a slight loss of traction on street tires(it´s been proven ;-)), no spinning is what applies to drag slicks. BTW it is possible for a stock escort gt to get into 15´s, I highly doubt the 14 second claim, especially Siragon, lol :)

Siragan is a madman and dangerous! Using alien technology in an Escort.... Imagine though, with the wagon he could stuff another BP engine back there like the guy with the Hyundai Tiburon did. And have a twin-engined Escort. Better yet, twin BPT engines. Can you say "10 second Escort wagon?"

BTW, Scortboyz did my signature below. Whaddya think? I like.

Yes, that Tiberon had twin engines; one in the front driving the front wheels and one in the rear driving the rear wheels, they made a combined 625 some horsepower, did 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and hit the 1/4 mi in an insanely low amount of time, it was in SCC magazine in the Ultimate Street Car Challenge (USCC) last year... He had two independently controlled auto trannies with which he put one in reverse and the other in drive and mashed the gas to the floor, he started to spin on his axis and, obviously enough, he won the burnout contest. not to mention the acceleration and dyno testing.

... but was the worst handing car of the bunch. Having two auto transmissions shifting at their own will doesn´t help when you´re trying to keep the car settled in a turn.

Anyone else buy the Ultimate Street Car Challenge video from last year? It´s worth it to see and hear that hyundai, and the skyline, and the twin boosted MR2, and the ferrari, and... all of them except for the Integra really (and I like integras). ;-)

Yes it is possible to run high 15´s with a egt. I ran a 15.595 @ 92.66 mph All I have is a GHL Motorsports muffler and I took out the resonator. I also took out my d side headlight and placed my intake box sideways and I got a big gain. I also have 140,000 Miles on my car. The tires I had are Potenza RE910.
