I read about this in the new motortrend. The ´04 focus svt will have a turbo mazda engine pushing ~225hp. By ´05 all foci will be switched to mazda power.

Yeah it might compare to the WRX, price or power wise. But I´d rather have a WRX any day of the week just for the AWD. Foci are ugly. and Escort GTs will kill them all (except the SVT, and this new model). The new Neon SRT-4 Compares to the WRX also, in fact it´s exactly the same, only better cornering prowess. But still, I´d rather have the better styling of the WRX. Besides, does anybody else notice how every car company is struggling to finally come up with a car that can hang with the WRX price/power wise? No one cared until Subaru put it´s balls out on the line with it´s new wonder car. I´d take the original over everything else anyday of the week.

Don´t forget though, the WRX has been plagued with "glass" trannies. I´ve even heard of some people who just put better tires on and blew their transmissions out. Subaru doesn´t like to cover that under warranty either, even with just new tires let alone other mods.

I don´t have a scanner to scan that article, but I´ll try to get a good picture of it, since it´s just a side note thing.

Still doesn´t denote the fact that the Focus is still the ugliest sport compact on the market. Well, the new Civic SI is pretty ugly too...can you tell just how widely my bias stretches towards the WRX? To ME, it´s the original 4 banger turbo´d wonder-car of the century. It´ll always be the best, not matter it´s few flaws.

I agree with you james that the WRX is one hell of a car and I would really love to own one my self. But have you ever seen a focus all kitted up? There is so much for them out there and they look really good when there all done up. And like a kitted up scort there ain´t many out there. I thought they were ugly cars but the 3 door foci is pretty nice and I would actually consider buying the SVT model. Specially if it comes turbo charged.

yeah i´ve seen it all kitted up...looks like it´s trying to pose to me. I dunno. it´s just not for me I guess. If you wanna get one, more power to ya. I have no problems with that. in fact, i´d like to see what you are going to do to it.

I was thinking abotu what you said about the WRX being the original 4 banger wonder car. I wonder how it would fare against a Talon TSi. I absolutly love those cars also. That was the original Turbo all wheel drive car. I would like to see a WRX and a Talon TSi go at it. Be very interesting.

1/4 mile: 15.1 seconds @ 94 mph

1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, with unknown Transmission:
0-60: 6.7 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.2 seconds

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan AWD, manual Transmission:
0-60: 5.4 seconds
1/4 mile: 14.1 seconds @ 96 mph

This is why I call the WRX Subaru´s "wonder car of the century" they put their balls out on the line for everyone to see, and now Ford, Chevy, Honda, VW, and Dodge are all trying to catch up. I love it.

I´d have to agree. The Focus is a sweet car, but I just can´t seem to take it seriously. It just doesn´t have the "look" of a fast car...

I´ve never been in one of the svt´s though. The guys here are nuts about it

Heres my question...Why the hell dont they put the focus svt engine into all the cars... for once ford should be a little like honda and put that special power into all their 4 cylinders and they would sell alot more... oh yeah I dont really enjoy the 3 door foci either but I really like the ZTS.

Thats funny I would never have thought that A reagular TSi talon would be faster than a AWD TSi Talon. I though they had more pep than that. But I guess when your only racing hondas it tends to make it look faster. By the way where did you get those stats at?
