I don't know what kinda lift your using, but I'd recommend getting or using one with a leveler on it. I have one, but figured I'd just use the lift...
Mine (98 SE), was simple, but did have one gotcha. The old TPS required drilling of the 3 mounting screws to get it off.
Considering the appearance of that engine (no offense), I wouldn't assume they did anything at all to it.

Run your pads out, and make a turn. It'll make a grinding noise. And the simplest thing to check (simply requires taking the wheels off to look)....
Drive axles are more likely to make clicking or popping noises on hard turns when they are failing. My guess would be more likely worn out brake pads...
I wouldn't mine raising the rear of mine a little. I have new springs in the back, and that put it up some, but I'd still like a little extra lift in...
