Exactly what it does I dont know. I have used it with old and newish plugs to then sometimes get a misfire, not all the time. New plugs and all good....
Seafoam through the vacuum lines generally kills some sparkplugs. Throw some new ones in there and see if it runs better.

I tried replacing the oring 2 times and still leaked.
I had a leak at the same spot, the only thing that fixed it was a new hose.
Maybe engine and/or transmission bushings are sagging and causing misalignment of shifter bar.
