I want the auto seat belts out (they don't work and I don't want them to anyway) - I have replacement regular manual belts already here and understand how to install them - BUT -- and this is what I can't find - if I just remove the old motors and tracks and unplug all the wires will there be any issues as far as sensors or wiring or starting or warning lights etc.....will it keep the car from starting and working correctly?

Thank you

No. it will start and run normally. Depending on what connectors you unplug (such as the one going to the motors inside the door pillar), you may lose the dome light coming on with the door open.
And with the wiring to the track removed, its possible the little "seat belt" symbol on the dash will come on. Whether it will stay on or not, that I dont know.
The little light goes out when I plug the waist belt into the latch next to the console. There is a connector under the seats that is involved with this circuit, which you might need to connect to the new belt latch. .

I would be glad to know where you found a set of manual seat belts to install. As would many of our members I think.

Manual seat belts from an MX-3 will swap right and look factory. All you have to do is tap one of the holes in the B pillar for the shoulder belt. Also some minor trim work is needed. I will be happy to post pics if anyone is interested.

Lots of those manual seat belts up here in Canada. If anyone is planning on coming to my neck of the woods (or has a friend or relative who will be visiting the area), PM me in advance and I can get a set from a junkyard and sell them to you at cost.

I am not very interested in harvesting them and shipping however.

Will the seat belt mechanism from an MX3 fit in the B pillar of a 3rd gen? I realize that the MX3's belts originate from the center console. I'd like to change out the interior color of my wagon to black and I found a black MX3 interior with black belts but have not found a black escort interior with black belts.

Those are early MX-3 belts. The later years 95-96 are manual belts and originate in the B pillar. Yes the 95-96 seat belt mechanism will fit in the B pillar of a 3rd gen. They will bolt right in using factory holes.
