I hate the crappy stock guage for water temp.

John,

Why are you looking at Mini sites?

I loved my MG 1100, It would 3 wheel without you even feeling it, unlike the Escort which tells you with the feeling of a 5 gallon bucket sliding across the car then Bam over steer.

Strange, what memories the picture of a gauge can do.

I love speedhut gauges but where are you going to fit a 3 3/8" gauge on the dash? The Smith dual gauge is only 2" and will be much easier to fit into the gauge surround especially with how brittle they can be and you having to drill a hole to fit the gauge.

This is what it looks like behind the gauge surround so you have an idea of how much room you have behind it.

Chillin's gauge setup is sweet and I contemplated mimicing what he did but I decided to continue to keep everything pretty much OEM on the car.

Yeah but I like the Speedo and Tach the way they are. I'm willing to compromises to having the quad gauge look off but it's in the cluster so I can quick glance it.

Gotta sound cringey but my mom offered to buy it for me for Christmas. XD So I guess that's 260 ish buck I don't have to spend on the money pit, Too be fair. if the car gets into a wreck and gets body damage then I can put into another escort or just into my next car.

Might I make a suggestion, just get a ScanGuage or similar OBDII gauge display. They make them in so many different shapes and sizes now and they can display a bunch of different vehicle parameters with the only connection being the OBDII port. I've had one for years and its great, it even helped me diagnose a random intermittent issue because I simply put the data I needed to look at on the display so when the issue happened I was ready.

I already have a scanner but I share it with my dad. I couldn't pull the oil pressure or water temp out of it but I could ready everything else. I figured that the computer doesn't pass thru that data. besides, I already have the gauge and the tools. To late now to just stop and get a OBD II guage now xp

the gauge I got has a light flasher if it's below a set limit for both oil and water. I agree that idiot light is good for most people, But I'm the kind of guy where I took the con rod caps off just to make sure that they were not knocking. So I'd like to know the exact oil pressure the engine is making. I accidentally ran one of these engines into the ground because the idiot light didn't come on fast enough so I don't really trust them anymore. As you said, they come on just a hair to late for them to really be useful. OBD II guages would've been the way to go but I'm planning to mega squirt/engine swap in the future. So my OBD II port days are numbered anyway.

Yeah, I looked around. I didn't trust the grounding or the +12 volt going to it so I got the power, ground, and light signal from the radio. I'm having issues now calibrating to the fuel level unit. I know I have to manually set it but I'm having weird issues where the needle seems to wander around. Yel/Blk for signal and GRN/BLK for ground. Anyone got ideas? "Yes, I had to pull the pump to set full and empty."
