When I came home yesterday my 96 LX wagon that was sitting in the driveway had it's brake lights on. I last drove it the day before. Keys were out of the ignition. Pulled the fuses for stop and tail lights even disconnected pedal switch. Had to disconnect the battery.
Today played with pedal switch and wiring at rear right light. Noticed 12v on both wires of switch connector.
Now,connect battery and brake lights off until pedal pressed then they stay on until battery disconnect.
All other lights work as should. Drives normal
Is there a relay I should look for or stay looking at the hatch back?
I had the opposite problem and discovered that the wire bundle from the roof to the rear hatch had wires with broken insulation that was causing a short. Peel back the rubber cover and check the wire insulation to see if you have the same problem.
Thanks for the reply,
I think my problem is mice chewing the harness mid body. The problem disappeared now that winter is here. I checked the wires at the hinge and disconnected all electricals in hatch, Problem was still happening. After a couple of weeks disconnecting the battery, the problem went away.
I think mice because of the mystery fix and also my truck continuosly has a nest in the glove box. They both stay parked by my wood piles.
When the weather is warmer, my plan is to run a new wire from the pedal switch to the wires below the hatch hinge. There seems to be connectors down by were the jack storage is. VERY messy down there!
