There is a 40amp fuse on this circuit . Some say it is because its part of the starter circuit... The starter side of this relay is the red black stripe wire on the 15amp fuse side with the black white stripe wire that feeds the coil of that relay.... it is only the contacts of this relay that take 40amps.... Starter side is the ground...

The red black striped wire tees into the starter solenoid wire feed... it feeds that coil turns the flywheel and grounds... now that same wire is use for grounding relay in fuse box for cooling fan circuit the same way it grounded the starter solenoid to start the flywheel going. its a duel uses wire... car can start with out it too.

Cooling fan can spin just fine an still be no good if it pulls to many amps it will burn or melt wire,relay, contacts or plastic plug in.. the fuse box wire inside burnt on me.. a radiator half plugged caused a fan to short that caused a relay to burn that caused a intake seat to drop..
