    Hi everybody,
I recently acquired a 1987 Wagon that;s in very good condition. I did my usual check for parts availability before I made the buy, I was shocked to find that Tire of all things are like chicken teeth...nobody makes the right size anymore. Anyway I am glad that I found this forum and hope that I can get some help locating a few items.

I just had the same issue yesterday getting tires for my work van. One suggestion would be to get a set of 15" wheels from a focus, that would open up a lot of options in 195/60/15 tires. I had 15" escort GT wheels on my old 87 wagon.

I have run into a new tire store in Aalabama that had zero 14" tires in stock. We had gotten a flat, and were directed to a nearby "used tire store" that had just what we needed. It has raised the question of whether I should carry a mounted spare tire on the roof rack of my wagons, or even a well wrapped tire in the size the car takes.
I imagine I might run into the same tire problem when driving one of my 2nd gen Escorts with 13" tires.

I still see plenty of escorts in the junkyard, and some have good tires on them. I grabbed a set of 14" steel wheels from a sedan just because they had nearly new 185/65/14s on them. I may grab singles as they turn up too, as spares.

    Welcome! :)
Pextor- Are the offsets/back spacing on the focus/cougar/contour rims compatible?
I once had a guy stop by with a cougar- wanting to buy some of my 15" 1st gen GT rims- I don't recall the issue we had when he tried to put one on, but I know there was an issue & he didn't end up purchasing them...
Carlos1787- I still have those rims if you have any interest.
I've also seen a guy on here with some Thunderbird TurboCoupe 16's on his 1st gen wagon...
Have any picts of your wagon? :)

Pextor - I thought about getting 15's, but was not sure what would fit without interference issues.
Tnashua - The car is a work in progress I have one Pic of the bad side[IMG]

this is what the inside looked like when I got it..[IMG]

this was the tire issue the popped up while I was towing it home.... I think the metal is supposed to be on the inside![IMG]

The car is 99% complete, I'm missing a few parts that I can't seem to find>
    • Collar that goes around the steering wheel
    • dash panel that is mounted just below the steering wheel
    • rear parking brake levers (8 inch brake), the piece that connects to the cable itself. Amazingly the cables are free...Dealer says that piece is obsolete, and here in west Michigan there aren't any bone yards that still have once of these.
    • rear plastic bumper corners
    • trim piece that is glued just in front of the rear wheels
    • left rear tail light
I was hoping to find some leads on part here.

they fit just fine. You may be able to use focus wheels or fiesta wheels, but I can't confirm that.

There was a 1st gen or two at the local JY, so I can try looking for a couple of the parts for you.

    Pextor,
I really would appreciate that, let me know if the local yard has anything. for the interior stuff the wrong color is better than piece missing!
