acting up with new steering column, advice
My only guess would be that the clamshell around the column is 'off' by some amount of adjustment distance. This could be from the column being bit too long or too short. The steering columns have a section where they can collapse in the event of an accident, and this sliding joint can get skidded in or out during the replacement of a column. Also, was the column you got from the same year as your car? I think there are basically three different layouts of the columns and the wiring in them - to and from the multi-function switch to the car's wiring harness. I know the 91-93 columns seem compatible, and the 94 and 95 (I think), but I dont know about the 96 Escorts.
